YASUAKI NAKAJIMA was born in Hokkaido, Japan. A self-taught filmmaker, after high school, he went to Tokyo, where he honed his craft by shooting a short claymation film with second-hand Super-8 mm film camera in his apartment at night while working during the day as a highrise window cleaner. In 1994, he hitchhiked all around Australia filming his 6-month experience in the desert. He moved to New York in 1996 and continued to make films. His first dramatic feature film, AFTER THE APOCALYPSE has been screened at over 50 film festivals around the world including: SXSW Film Fest 2004, LA Film Fest 2004 and Raindance Film Fest 2004.
